Plows through wood
I have owned this splitter for over a year. It has handled everything I have thrown at it including 20-plus inch maple rounds with a diameter of 38 inches while in the vertical position. Well built and plows through wood - knots, twists, burls, and all. Would definitely recommend it.

Good
Add a crank style trailer jack to the tongue. To heavy for an older person to pick up. Would be nice to have an auto style dip stick to check the engine oil. Plenty of power. Overall a very well built machine for coming from China. Splits like a madman!

good quality for the price.
Bought this log splitter in an open crate and found out that some parts were missing. Called Yardmax and they sent me out all the missing parts and hardware kit. This splitter works great. Starts well and splits any log we put on it with no problem.

Great splitter for the price!
I've been using this splitter for over a couple months now and have very few complaints. Not really complaints, more like things I had to correct.
The splitter itself is strong enough to handle what I've thrown at it without any issues. Trust me, I throw a lot at it. I don't go by their chart of log sizes as I don't have a choice in the matter, when I get wood I take what sizes come and it's handles all of them. From nice strait grained wood to gnarly willow, it's done well.
Now for the things I needed to do. The first thing I did was adjust the hitch latch, it was way too loose and was banging on every bump when being towed. The other was going around and tightening all the bolts and nuts. This is not the manufacturers fault but the store itself when they assembled it. A few things that could be made better is one: make the log platform a little longer so larger logs don't slip off and move the whole machine. Move the engine (drain plug) out a 1/2 inch so when draining the oil it doesn't ooze all around and under the engine. Other than that, if you get one, enjoy!

Well built, good value... but can't it be made in the US?
Purchased this yesterday - 6/14/22. Set-up was pretty good - tires only had 25 psi and the engine oil level was very low (why oil is included I guess). Pumped the tires up on the way home. Checked all the fasteners, hose connections, etc., topped up the oil and filled it with gas. Fired up on the third pull and I let it run just above idle for about 5 minutes to break it in a bit, then increased the speed gradually.
Once at full speed, I grabbed a chunk of Maple as a test piece. Went through that like a hot knife through butter. Grabbed another and another and another... Before I knew it, two hours had passed and I'd split most of the stack - I was having so much fun. Some of the knotty pieces made it "grunt" a bit, but the wedge slowly pushed on through.
Likes: Good design, well built - heavy, works very well, comes with "wings" on either side of the beam that are option on similarly priced machines, good value for $$. Family Farm and Home actually had it in stock. Most other retailers had no splitters in stock and to have them shipped to the store cost $150 extra!
Dislike: only one: Made in China! Even the included oil was made there. Come on... can't we make anything in this country?

Great Log Splitter
Got it home, checked to make sure it had oil, put some gas in it and it started on the first pull. Any log I put on it, it split with no issues. Very impressed and would definitely recommend.

Good machine
I have been burning wood for 30 plus years. Have split a lot of wood with a maul. The tuff stuff would have to borrow a splitter from a friend or family member. This splitter works as well or better than any of them. On the plus side, the engine starts very easily, ffirst or second pull every time. Cycle time is good. Seems to be very well built. Heavy… in fact the tongue weight is VERY heavy. Wish it had a jack, doesn’t…just a prop. If I could I would subtract 1/2 star for that. Am planning to retrofit a jack with a wheel. That should make it near perfect.
